We had a very good time at Smitty's today. Our server, Lily, was outstanding. This is our 2nd time dine in and got the same server. She is polite, friendly, smiley, fast and accurate with our orders. She went the extra mile to ask my husband what kind of sausage he would like with his omelets, describing the food and suggested sides. We had one of the best sweet potato fries here! Thanks to Lily! We definitely will come again!

Long may Smitty’s survive, part of our Canadian heritage, once lost never replaced. Be careful what you neglect or wish for, to the servers in Smitty’s thank you for making great childhood memories for my significant other, so decades on I got to share the experience. Bless you all for keeping the story going
Not pleasant. | by Adam on Sep 15, 2019
I recently received my birthday invitation for one free entrée at one of your outlets here I Saskatoon. My wife also received one for her birthday in July, which we took advantage of. Unfortunately that was not a pleasant dining experience. We realise that Smitty’s is not considered “Fine Dining”, but it should, at the very least, be pleasant dining. I will begin with the fact that we are not new to your establishment, and have visited Smitty’s restaurants in several locations from cost to coast. Most recently we visited the outlet at The Mall at Lawson Heights in Saskatoon. I have limited food intake, and usually only get a cup of soup. My wife ordered the turkey dinner – she couldn’t order off the cheaper Seniors menu and this was indicated on the “Happy Birthday” card. We did mention that we were using this free entrée card. I ordered a cup of soup and was informed that this was no longer an option. Then I pointed out the “Cup” of soup listed on the menu, and was reassured that this option was no longer available. So I ordered a cup of coffee. The meal came and my wife dug in. First thing she noted was that the turkey was so dry and flakey and not at all appealing. There were no spices in the also dry dressing – not even a hint of poultry seasoning. The potatoes were barley warm, but the gravy did heat up the outer surface. Vegetables were okay, but hey – they’re vegetables! The coffee I had was good. Just after our service was delivered, another wait staff delivered to a table of four across from us – three meals and each with a “Cup” of soup? My wife ate what she could, which wasn’t much, and I drank my cup of coffee. When the waiter came around we asked for the bill. We didn’t complain, because we figured it would do no good, and even if the meal were replaced, we couldn’t have eaten it. The waiter proceeded to clear a few tables and take a couple orders. Several mutes passed without the bill being presented so we asked again if we could have our bill. His response was that he’s already given it to us – or so he thought. He came by a few minutes later and dumped the bill on the table with the comment – “Sorry – nothing personal.” And left. At the till w were asked if everything was okay and I responded with the question; “Don’t you serve cups of soup anymore, or is it just at certain times”? The girl at the till said they were no longer on the menu, so I pointed out to her the location on the menu where it offered a “Cup” of soup. Her response – “Oh, that’s just if you order an entrée”. I said we’d ordered an entrée to which she replied “Oh – he should have let you order a cup of soup – I’ll let him know.” Too little too late. So I’m asking you to please remove us from your mailing lists as we won’t be making use of your facilities any more. We will be tossing our seniors discount cards, and I am returning your Birthday entrée card as it is of no use to me. My wife and I are retired, and enjoy our outings to various restaurants and coffee shops. I have limited intake capabilities and usually just get a cup of soup which fills me up. We used to enjoy Smitty’s, but I guess we’re better off elsewhere.
