Laurier Québec is the second largest mall in Canada after West Edmonton Mall. Laurier Québec is located in Quebec City near the bridges to the North Shore and along the major thoroughfare leading directly to the Old City. Visitors can use a shuttle bus that runs to Laurier Québec twice a day. Otherwise the center provides more then 5,000 parking spaces with no fee. With the most diversified tenant mix in Eastern Canada and 12-million visitors annually, Laurier Québec shopping centre is the first tourist destination after Old Quebec. The center was opened in November 1961 as Place Laurier. The name changed and the center has significantly expanded to accomodate the shoppers.
Laurier Québec is owned and managed by Ivanhoe Cambridge. This year (2015) Laurier Québec shopping centre is undergoing an $18-million renovation and expansion. The food court will be modernized and will occupy 5,000 square feet of floor space and increase seating capacity from 1,300 to 1,434. Washrooms will be expanded and renovated and an escalator linking the food court to the mall’s second level will be added. The project is scheduled to be completed at the end of 2016.
Laurier Québec features about 350 stores, including 34 restaurants. You'll find most major chain stores, including Future Shop, Best Buy, Sears, Hudson's Bay Company, Aliments de Santé Laurier, H&M, Linen Chest, Old Navy, Sports Experts, La Baie, Toys "R" Us and much more. Laurier Québec will welcome eight new retailers by the end of 2015, including the largest Forever 21 store in the Quebec City area, The Allô Mon Coco restaurant, Centre du Rasoir, GNC, Structube, Studio, Think Kitchen and the first Faceshop in the Quebec City market are the other new arrivals. Renaud-Bray will expand while L’Imaginaire, Rogers, Vidéotron, Presse Gateway, Reitmans, San Francisco, Aqua and La Vie en Rose will carry out renovations. The center provides a childcare centre for free where children between two and eight can spend some time during the day. Otherwise, children can spend time at the children’s indoor playground.
