Yorkdale Shopping Centre is a premier shopping centre located in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The centre is situated at 3401 Dufferin Street, off Allen Road, near the 401. Yorkdale is co-owned by Oxford Properties and Alberta Investment Management Corporation (AIMCo) and managed by Oxford Properties Group. The centre was opened on February 26th, 1964 with 100 stores. When Yorkdale Shopping Centre opened, it was anchored by Simpson's and Eaton, occupied nearly one million square feet and had 6,500 parking spaces. At the time, it was the largest mall in the world.
Since the opening in 1964, the centre has undergone four major renovations. A modernization of the mall in the mid-1980s expanded Yorkdale's capacity to 200 stores. Other major renovations took place in 1999 and 2005. Yorkdale Shopping Centre completed a $220 million dollar southwest expansion in 2012. The centre launched a 298,000 square foot retail expansion in January 2014 valued at $331 million to be completed in Fall 2016. A $331-million West and East Expansion is set to include Nordstrom, Uniqlo, Longchamp (a French luxury retailer opening its first Canadian store), home furnishings retailer Restoration Hardware and about 30 additional retailers. The four-level store will be Restorations Hardware’s largest Canadian location. The East Expansion is scheduled for completion in August 2016 and the West Renovation is scheduled to be complete in November 2016. When finished, the Yorkdale Shopping Centre is destined to be the second-largest mall in Canada based on square footage.
Yorkdale centre houses more then 250 retailers such as Holt Renfrew, Canada’s largest Apple Store, Tesla Motors, Microsoft Store, Club Monaco, John Varvatos, Anthropologie, world-class luxury retail component, housing free-standing locations for brands such as Cartier, Bulgari, Mulberry, Jimmy Choo, Moncler, David Yurman, Montblanc, Versace, Salvatore Ferragamo, Hugo Boss, and others. Holt Renfrew, itself, features mall-facing concessions for luxury brands Chanel, Prada, Gucci and Louis Vuitton, as well as internal concessions forDior, Giorgio Armani and others. Dining options offer variety of fast food retsaurants, restaurants and specialty foods such as Jimmy the Creek, La Paloma, Thai Express, Villa Madina, Famoso Napolitana Pizzeria, Pickle Barrel Grand, Tim Hortons, Starbucks and many more.

High end mall, with theaters. Located just off Highway 401, visible from Highway 401, easily accessible, parking is a bit of a challenge though, almost always jam-packed. There is however a lot of parking on the backside of the Mall

This has been my favourite shopping mall since I was a teenager. I have seen the numerous expansions and transformations the mall has been through and it remains my favourite mall! Although it is progressing into a high end mall, there is a balance of options of stores at various price points.
