Excellent Service by Tash | by Cecilia G. on Feb 02, 2024
I called for an appointment and spoke to Tash over the phone. She is friendly and very accommodating. When I went for the appointment, she is friendlier and more accommodating in person. Excellent service provided as well. And other staff are friendly and accommodating too.

Re-review after conversation with manager | by Jody on Sep 28, 2020
I posted a review of Eye On Optical after a very bad experience with and optician during a recent visit a few days ago... I was just going to leave it at that, but being that it's my eyes at issue, and I hate being scammed, I decided to delve a little deeper. I called the College of Opticians of Ontario to check some things the optician told me, which turned out to be untrue. I called back and spoke to the optician, who said a few more pretty sketchy things and then I asked to speak to the manager. As soon as I started to go over the things I had been told he said "Oh, no, that's not right." As someone who has done (more than) my fair share of customer service, as bad as the initial optician was, the manager (Fred) provided perfect assistance. Honestly when he got on the phone I expected a very contensious conversation, but he was friendly, attentive and really honest. It completely restored my faith in the shop.
Nice staff, terrible service | by Jody on Sep 26, 2020
I went in to get an eye exam, and when I was given my prescription it did not include the pupillary distance, which I didn't realize until I got home. I e-mailed the store and they said if I returned they would measure the PD for me for free. A week later I went in and the optician refused to give me my PD, because it is against the rules of The College of Opticians of Ontario for her to give it to me. (This is not true, and in fact the COO website specifies the optician has an obligation to provide the info to patients.) I challenged this (didn't sound right) and she said "Okay, I'll do it for you." Then she looked at the prescription I was given by the optometrist the week before (which was for progressives) and said "Oh, you don't need progressives, you just need reading glasses." She then tried to sell me $100 reading glasses. When I explained that I had been laid off because of Covid and $100 reading glasses weren't possible right now, she said "Well, you can just get $20 reading glasses from anywhere." The question is, of course, how do you go from progressives to dollar store reading glasses? Well, you can't afford their glasses, that's how.Another question is, did the optometrist give me an unnecessary prescription, or did the optician tell me to ignore it so she wouldn't have to give me my PD? I get that glasses stories are there to sell glasses (duh), but the optometrists and opticians who work in them should be optometrists and opticians first and sales people second, and when they get that backwards they've lost their ethics. At this point I'm doubly confused, unsure if I need reading glasses or if I need prescriptions...
