Rideau Centre is a premier shopping centre located in the downtown of Ottawa in Canada. This 3 level mall is owned by Cadilac Fairview and welcomes over 20 million people annualy. Rideau Centre complex includes the shopping centre, the Westin Hotel, a rooftop park and Ottawa Convention Centre.
The shopping centre, which was was opened in March 1983, features about 180 specialty stores and services. The Rideau Centre is undergoing a major, $360-million, revitalization and expansion, which officially started in September 2013 and will be completed in August 2016. The redevelopment includes a complete interior renovation of the existing centre, an expansion that will add 230,000 square feet of leasable area, a new 35,000 square feet dining hall, a new 3-level underground parking garage and a new exterior façade.
Rideau Centre is home to stores such as Bath&Body Work, Coach, Calvin Klein, Lacoste, Talbots, Town Shoes, Swarovski, Grand&Toy, Gap Kids, Sears, American Apparel, American Eagle Outfitters, Banana Republic, Hugo Boss, Guess, Mexx, Aldo Accessories, Marciano, Michael Kors and many more. The centre has added new retailers this year and is planning to add few more. Leading fashion specialty retailer Nordstrom, Inc. opened the doors to its new store in March 2015. Kate Spade, A New York based design house, opened in June 2015. Another high-end American designer, Stuart Weitzman, is expected to open in October 2015. Tiffany&Co. will open in August 2015. Simons, the popular Quebec based clothing store, and H&M are scheduled to open their stores in Rideau Centre in 2016. This will be the largest H&M store in Ottawa at almost 30,000 square feet of fashion. The renovation of dining court cost the mall $21.3 million and offers 80,000 square feet of space, seating for 850 customers and premium branded eating establishments offering everything from gourmet burgers and high-end grilled cheese, to vegan fare and even barbecue.
