My daughter and I were Christmas shopping at White Oaks, enjoying a wonderful afternoon together. We wandered into Hickory Farms as I wanted to buy some gifts. When we entered, the woman working asked if she could help us. We answered that we were "just looking for now" and she replied "well, I'm not going to follow you around the store". We kind of laughed, thinking she was trying to be funny. Some other women, and my daughter and I, were looking in a cooler with different flavoured cheese balls in it, discussing what flavours might be good. There was an open container 2/3rds empty containing cut up cheeses and toothpicks. Seeing that it was a sample tray, my daughter reached in and took a tooth pick. Suddenly the woman working in the store screamed (not an exaggeration) right in my daughter's ear and said "LADIES....NOW I HAVE TO THROW THIS AWAY!!" We were both in shock, thinking at first that she was joking! She snatched the tray from the cooler and dramatically walked to the garbage and threw the sample tray in, right in front of all the customers in the store, while giving us a dirty look! We were in shock, and eventually dropped our items we had and left the store. Shame on you, lady, for treating customers so rudely! Maybe you should have been offering the samples as customers came into the store, or had a sign on the samples to ask. Either way, there is no excuse for being so rude. You turned a lovely day with my daughter into a very poor experience. We will never shop at this store again.
