Before Christmas I purchased two pairs of pants for my 15 year old as a gift. I very specifically ask "Gwen" the girl working there if he did not like the pants if I could get my money back if he didn't like them, a question I always ask before I buy for teenagers and "Gwen" the sales clerk told me yes as long as I have the receipt and if I return them within 10 days after Christmas. Well he didn't like the pants and we went into return them today. The same Girl was working and she informed me that they only give gift cards for returned merchandise. I told her that she informed me I could get my money back and she said she didn't say that. I was very upset because I would not have bought them there if I had known this. There is absolutely nothing in the store posted with their return policy. I confirmed this with another girl that works in there. She showed me that it is printed on the receipt but you do not get the receipt until after you made your purchase. So in order to make the sale I guess this company believes it is okay to tell the customers whatever they want to hear to make the sale even if it doesn't match with their policy. Also when she gave me the gift card I asked if there I could use it online because there was nothing in the store my son wanted. Her response to this was "you can try". I honestly did not even know how to respond to this. Shouldn't someone that is working at a store know these things. And just for the record I did not have any problems returning items at American Eagle and other stores.
