On Dec.6 my family awoke to a power loss as did many other people in Fredericton. My pregnant partner asked me to walk to McDonalds to get us food and coffee. So my 4 year old daughter and myself got bundled up and walked the 20 minute walk because we do not own a car. When we got to the store there were people lined up. We joined the line. Not long after we arrived they unlocked the doors and let in three people bringing us to the front of the line. We waited for about an hour and a half patiently. Even as the wind picked up and rain increased I tried to keep my daughter entertained. Eventually a customer from the back of the line that had cued up behind us went to the other entrance and got a Skip The Dishes driver to get him some coffee. The customer was told that the dining room was closed and that they were not opening the doors. Again a customer told me this. Not a staff member or a member of their management team but a fellow customer. There were no signs put up for us to read nothing. At the point I had enough. I went around to the other door and I lost my cool. I am not proud or happy that I did. The manager on duty responded not by trying to diffuse the situation instead raised her voice. It was then and only then that it was said that they were not allowing people in. She gave no apologies. Nothing. Which angered me more and I was told that maybe I should think about how I was teaching my daughter to treat people and that I had to leave and that I was never to return. I will adhere to what the manger said and I will never go there again.
