Canadian Law on Prices | by Kathleen Beaumont on Nov 27, 2017
I was disappointed with the service at this store. I had a price dependency between the tag price on my purse and the price I was charged on my receipt. I reurned to the store for a [price adjustment and asked that they honor the price on the price tag. The sales team at that store dont seem to un dertand Canadian Consumer Law and that is you pay the amount that is on the item you are puchasing and not the amount that is in the store compute. I was deflected in every manner possible. The sales clerk wen to the back room to consult with a manage on four occasions and each time came back with a reason why they couldn't do it.I think the intent was to wear me down and hope I would go away but I stood my ground because I know my rights and after two phone calls with their head office and technical advisors they consented to make the change. Upon leaving I thnaked the young lady for her efforts then another senior sales person made the comment that they "wouldn't like one of their customers to have to pay more than what was on the price tag". Funny, that wasn't the sentiment projected when I first arrived at the store, all they wanted me to do was either go away or take a refund. They put on a pretense that their customers are so exclusive and elite that its discomforting to have to talk a bout price. It is discomforting and I wont be shamed into thinking that I'm a letter person for insisting upon my rights as a consumer. I think this store needs to become more familiar with Canadian pricing laws and also have someone in the store that is empowered to make a management decision and can override the till when needed. Not impress about how much my time on my day off this wasted. Wont be going there again soon.
