Disappointing | by Edith on Nov 14, 2016
My husband & I have frequented De Dutch Pannekoek House's for many years. For a # of years now, we have gone to Grandview Corners. Yesterday, Nov. 13, 2016, will be the last time though. Quality of food has deteriorated greatly, year by year, and prices have gone up. My favourite has always been the apple, cinnamon, whipped cream pannekoek. Not too long ago, I had to ask for the whipping cream 3 (yes, three!) times. The next time, I thought I'd try the omelette, (poor choice; most tasteless omelette I've ever had). It was to come with a fruit bowl. Well, it was the most pathetic presentation of a "side of fruit", it was laughable! (It was a quarter of a small apple, cut in 4 thin slices & six 1/2" cubes of hard mango). I said to the witness "This does not look like the picture of the fruit bowl, on the menu". She said "I'll see if we have any strawberries". She came back "No, that's all the fruit we have". Yesterday, I was back to ordering my apple, cinnamon, whip.... But where were the apples? There was holes in the THIN pannekoek, where I guess the apples had stuck to the pan! My husbands, favourite is the debacon, deonion, deapple... the debacon was almost non existent, the 3 little pieces could have been eaten in one bite. And stroop had to be asked for twice. Forget about any server ever offering a refill of coffee..... You're "on your own" after you get your meal. From now on, we'll go back to the Cloverdale de Dutch, where recently I had the best apple, cinnamon, whipped cream (goodly portion), pannekoek!
