Canadian Shoe Brand To Open It’s First Store In Vancouver

In the middle of December this year, Vancouver-based footwear brand Native Shoes will open it’s first standalone retail space in Vancouver’s Gastown area, at 14 Water Street.

We’re extremely proud to open our first retail location in our hometown Vancouver. This new space will be a creative hub where design, fashion and community intersect - said Kyle Housman, President at Native Shoes

Brand’s latest collections for adults and kids will feature the store, especially footwear in new prints for the Fall season. As a special treat, the brand announces Monaco Velcro collection for kids and the water-resistant Treklite boots.

As for the design of the store, it will be in accordance with the brand’s philosophy – minimalistic and sustainable. Materials such as natural wood will dominate and there will also be a monolithic moss wall, set to complete the uniqueness of the space. The store will feature a special gumball machine installation where all the visitors will be able to find out more about how Native’s classic Jefferson shoe was made in an interactive and creative way. A community space is, also, being built, as a place to host pop ups with other artists, brands and inspiring individuals.

The Vancouver-based company was founded in 2009 with three classic shoe silhouettes constructed entirely from a single material: EVA. The brand has since expanded and today operates in 30 countries worldwide. The main motto of the brand is Keep it Lite and the products are made to give all the customers: innovation, originality, and the key ingredient lite-ness. The most beautiful fact about Native Shoes is the fact they are Beast Free – that means no animal anywhere in the world was hurt during the process of production of their footwear. They have, even, been certified by PETA as an approved vegan brand.

All products of Native Shoes are made of specific material called EVA. EVA stands for ethylene-vinyl acetate, elastrometic polymer that produces materials which are rubber – like in softness and flexibility. This flexible porous plastic material has good barrier properties, low-temperature toughness, stress-crack resistance, hot-melt adhesive waterproof properties, and resistance to ultraviolet radiation. Also, products made of EVA have little or no odor. It’s main benefits are softness and flexibility and good clarity with no smell.
